Re: Psoriasis Meds
When my scalp itching was at it's worse- my Godsend was the stuff you
leave on overnight... it's P medication suspended in peanut oil. You
wet your hair, massage the oil in, put on a shower cap (preferrably
one with flowers on it so you can at least get a good chuckle) and go
to bed- put a t-shirt over your pillow- it tends to get a little
messy. I really help the scaling especially- my head used to feel
like my scalp was cracking apart- but this really helped.

I highly recommend that you stick to the meds as long as
possible to see if they start working (though talk to your dr about
all your side effects of course). MTX took about 2-3 months for
me before it kicked in. I learned a lot about patience! But in the
beginning, I did feel very exhausted. My non-medically trained
opinion is that the drugs are like a shock to the system and it
takes a while for the body to adjust. It's like, when you first take
the drug it's combatting years of disease, then eventually a
balance is reached and the drug is just combatting the
disease's developments since your last dose. Or something
like that.
The question is, after a settling in period (a month or two?), are
you more fatigued on the drug than off the drug?
I've been on mtx for 2 and a half years, it's great for my pa but the
side effects (sores, nausea, no appetite, etc) have been very
crappy. I just started enbrel and am going through the fatigue
phase all over again. But I do feel that after an adjustment
period, my body will get used to getting the dose and it won't
wipe me out like it does now. We'll see...
