Re: [PsoriaticArthritis] Insulin syringes for use with Enbrel

I never really had a problem with dull needles in my Enbrel kits. I was
told not to substitute needles because of the unusually large protein
compound, which is the active ingredient, can and will be damaged if forced
through a smaller needle. This can make the drug less or even
non-effective. I would certainly contact Immunex before modifying their
designed protocol. R.E.

I would like to know if somewone can help me with my fear of starting
Embrel. I was approved by the company and my medical insurance to start
taking it and have been delaying it for weeks. I have read about it
weakening the immune system and causing infection. I live in NY and am
planning a trip to Florida in February and April and I always get sick when I
fly. In think it has to do with the recycled air on the plane and breathing
everyones germs. I had knee replacement surgery almost 5 months ago and it
is not healing right due to the PA. Am I being insane about not wanting to
take the Embrel. Be honest. I can take it!!!!!

I had knee replacement surgery too and it didn't start to feel better and
stop swelling until I started Enbrel. It too two years. I encourage you to
start, I have had no problems with the Enbrel at all, well maybe just
getting the supply of the drug. Don't be frightened. Anne

    Janet,
I am with you! It has been sitting in my fridge for 3 weeks now... ugh. I
have a Dr.'s appt. on Thursday to start... who knows if I will have the guts
    to do it or not!

    What are you taking now?

What are you most concerned about? What are you taking now?
I was nervous about taking MTX (my wife was, too!) when I read the
warnings. Enbrel comparatively is a walk in the park.

I too was afraid to start Enbrel. I kept reading the patient info insert
which listed so many things that could go wrong. Then I decided to go ahead
and hope for the best. In the beginning I had some nausea & a headache but I
wasn't sick. In fact I haven't been sick while I have been on Enbrel and I
used to catch just about everything. I just do it automatically now
without a second thought. It is almost 2 years now. Good Luck. (Of course
I wouldn't get really close to someone who looked seriously ill.) Peggy in
    Sunny Florida (for the winter)

    Hi Mark,
I am taking nsaids now and Vicodin at night to sleep for the pain. I had a
knee replacement a few months ago which is not healing right. I am going to
start the Embrel. I finally made up my mind. It sure took long enough.

Congratulations on your decision. I really hope that you have even half
the improvement that I have had!
